The Secret Life of Girls (Arts in Health 2011-2012)
Director: Meg Phillips
Ages: Middle/Junior High
Status: In Production
Show Dates: Touring production/public performances TBA

Based upon interviews with girls on the giving and receiving end of bullying, this dramatization of teen-girl angst opens a window into the tumultuous, destructive world of girls' bullying. The play follows Abby and her classmates over several months, during which gossiping, name-calling, exclusion, backbiting, and manipulation touch each girl's life. It also highlights the impact of cyberbullying through texting, emailing, and instant messaging and addresses the dangerous behaviors such as depression, cutting, and eating disorders which can result. Following the play, a facilitator will be present to start a conversation with the audience about the secrets, complexities, and behaviors which dominate young women's lives.
