Tap is a dance form unlike any other. In addition to learning the steps, one must also be able to execute the movement in exact time with the music. This class will focus on finding the beat in music, and learning to count and keep time with that music. Rhythm is the main ingredient in building a strong tap dancer. The students will be become familiar with the basic tap vocabulary, and will be exposed to various styles of tap dance as it has evolved through the years. This class will challenge the students to use not only their feet, but also their ears, to find the rhythm inside of their bodies and work to master the exhilarating art of tap dancing.
Intermediate Tap - Ages 10+

Expanding upon basic tap steps and rhythm patterns will be the focus of this class. The students will use their previous knowledge of tap dance to help them learn and master more difficult and complex combinations and rhythms. We will work on piecing together many different steps to test and improve their muscle memory from week to week. Students will also be challenged to create their own rhythm patterns, and will learn about what sort of sounds and rhythms appeal to the eyes and ears of their audience.
