June 3 - 14
"A Show of Hands"
8:30 - 4:30 pm
Instructor: Maggie Hunter
Students will learn the basics of acting while incorporating American Sign Language (ASL). ASL explores a crucial dimension of acting - facial expression, body movement and creativity without vocalization. Students will use stories like Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella and Little Mermaid to learn stage direction, character development, costuming, makeup, props, set design and ASL. Students will participate in a different aspect of the production for each story. Showcase on the last day of class.
June17 - 28
"The Emperor's New Clothes and Other Fashion Faux Pas"
8:30 - 4:30 pm
Instructor: Matt Howard
Jump into the world of acting. Discover how to create a dynamic (and zany) character
and bring a story alive. Students will learn how to find that character through
improvisation, open scenes, stage movement and combat, and perform the hilarious
production about a couple of sly weavers who convince the Emperor that his beautiful
clothes can only be seen by the "honest ..." Showcase on the last day of class.
July 15 - 26
"The Journey of the Song"
8:30 - 4:30 pm
Instructor: Dani Mann
This camp will focus on the exciting expression of ideas, hopes, and dreams through the art of Music in Theatre. Utilizing great musical numbers from shows like Newsies, Mulan, Wizard of Oz, and The Lion King, students will learn to communicate through dancing and singing. Basics of stage movement and technical singing will be addressed; but we will take it one step further. Students should be prepared to explore their emotions and to stretch their minds. We will take chances! Make mistakes! And get messy! On the final day of camp, students will have the opportunity to perform their explored, choreographed, and polished pieces in a showcase, spotlighting every aspect of growth they achieved in two weeks.
July 29 - Aug. 9th
"I Wanna Be Like You!"
8:30 - 4:30 pm
Instructor: Gina Drapela
Do you often communicate with your parents through animal sounds? Meow too! We are just itching to invite you to spend a week on a jungle safari learning the bare necessities of acting, singing and dancing. Join us as we adventure through the songs of Lion King, Jungle Book, Tarzan and more! No matter if you have stripes, spots, hooves, claws, tails or scales; everyone is welcome here! Showcase on the last day of class.
