Ryan McNeil is a Columbia native and PACE alum who holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Missouri in Music and French and has recently moved back to Columbia after two years teaching in St. Louis. Ryan has loved all things theatre since he played Thorin Oakenshield in Angela Howard’s production of The Hobbit in 1996, and since then has been involved in many shows in and around Columbia. Highlights include Mike in A Chorus Line (CEC), Schroeder in You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown (Maplewood Barn), The Emcee in Cabaret (MU Summer Repertory Theatre), Mike Tindle in Sleuth (Boonville’s Historic Thespian Hall), and Billy in The Goat or, Who is Sylvia? (IAT). Ryan has worked behind the scenes as well, having served as music director for CEC’s Five Frogs and a Prince and MU’s The Pedlar, choreographing CEC’s Stepping Out, and stage managing and providing live piano accompaniment for a St. Louis concert reading of Tennessee Williams’ The Glass Menagerie. Ryan has a special interest in Musical Theatre and the analysis and interpretation of—especially contemporary—theatre songs. Ryan is also a member of the Board of Trustees of Independent Actors Theatre. During the 2011-12 school year, Ryan will teach both Music and French at Lange Middle and will direct Oliver! for PACE in the spring.
