Angela Howard - Artistic Director

Angela graduated magna cum laude with a BA in Theatre from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She has been involved in theatre as a professional actress, singer, and dancer for over 30 years. While in living in Denver, Colorado, she was the Managing Director and a performer with Melange Dance Ensemble, as well as a teacher of modern dance, dance improvisation, and yoga. A move to San Diego opened opportunities to return to acting and singing, as well as teaching and working professionally as a makeup artist in theatre and film. Her makeup design for The Teen Connection, Til Death Do Us Part, an original script written by San Diego inner city youth about drug and alcohol abuse garnered awards for the San Diego Learning Channel. In 1992 she moved to Columbia, MO where she volunteered for Columbia Entertainment Company as a performer, costume designer, and board member. She began teaching theatre classes in their theatre school, and was asked to direct the theatre school productions in 1998. She owned and operated her own studio, Columbia Theatre Academy, while directing over 40 productions for numerous theatre companies, schools and churches, as well as volunteering as a stage manager, costumer, set designer, and sound designer. She has performed at CEC, The Maplewood Barn Theatre, Summer Repertory at the University of Missouri, and Independent Actors Studio, as well as doing numerous video commercials and radio voiceovers. In 2003 she became a founder, Co-Artistic Director and Business Manager for PACE. She currently is the Artistic Director, directing 2 to 3 productions every year, the Theatre School Director, and originated the Arts in Health program, which produces one production every year geared towards health and social issues affecting youth. Angela has taught theatre at L.E.A.D., Leadership, Education and Advocacy for the Deaf, Teen Institute for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in the summer and has taught makeup workshops at the Missouri School for the Deaf. In addition to her work with PACE, she is a member of the Educational Theater Association, the Golden Key Honor Society and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, and the Regional Director for Jellybean Conspiracy, Inc.
